Marketing your website

Location, location, location. The number one rule in buying advertising. Well where do you point your marketing efforts online isn't the location the internet? Contrary to public perception no its not. For instance services and products that target web designers and programmers may be more effective on Google then Aol most of thoes people have broadband and dont use dial up services. Another example would be someone selling a service for designers would have better results targeting Mac forums etc.. ( alot of designeres prefer Macs ).

Determing where to concentrate your efforts is tricky business. You need to 1st of all be honest to yourself as to who your core market will be. I have a friend that sells tin toys and he fancys that his core market are tin toy collectors. After taking a look at his web analitics and his sales reports I can tell you that his core market is older generation that  are buying nostalgic gifts for grandkids and so forth. So he loose alot of traffic he could get by marketing to that group, however he wants to be stuborn and continue to market to the tin toy collectors. The traffic his site gets from those efforts spends an average of 5 seconds on the site before bouncing out.

Mass Email Marketing Can Help Grow Your Business

Email Marketing is a form of direct marketing in which a commercial message or an email newsletter is sent to a list of interested audience through electronic mail. It is similar to sending direct mail except that sending emails is much easier and less expensive. Whether a growing organization or an established firm, email marketing offers a cost effective way to keep in touch with the customers and build a loyal base of customers.

Increase traffic to Your Website

One of the hardest things to do in internet is attracting traffic to a website. Though search engine optimizations can bring visibility to your website, just the traffic does not make profit. You should have a strong marketing strategy to convert the traffic into customers. Email marketing is the best way to sustain the interest of the people who visit your website and make them do business with you. By sending regular newsletters with quality content, people will be compelled to visit your website to know more. This will turn in sustained traffic to your website. Moreover, these people are genuinely interested in your products and services and visit your website to do business. Even if 5% of the people buy your products, it can work wonders to your annual turnover.

Build Customer Loyalty

Email marketing is the best way to expand your customer base and improve brand loyalty among your customers. By sending them useful information and interesting content customers, get a sense of value for the time they spend reading your mail. Just a few paragraphs or few tips are enough to capture the interest of the customers and bring them to your home page. With regular emails, readers are better exposed to your products and they start accepting them. You do not get a better chance to build your brand image. A great advantage with email marketing is you can identify the potential customers and target your marketing to suite the niche audience. The emails can be personalized to make them sound informal wherever desired. If the content is interesting and makes sense to people, they might even forward it to their friends increasing your brand visibility.

Save Advertising Cost

Compared to other forms of advertising - direct mails, newsletters - email marketing is less expensive. Moreover, the entire process of sending mails can be automated. Such tools are easily available over internet. They help you manage your contacts and send mails at regular intervals. Your investment involves only an auto-responder, which sends out the emails periodically (at preset intervals). In addition, you should spend some manpower on making the content of the email compelling and useful for the customer. All this will make only a fraction of the money you will otherwise spend in sending direct mails to your customer.

Email marketing is fast catching up as most popular marketing strategy. Any business can benefit from email marketing of some kind. This least expensive mode of advertising has the greatest potential to bring valuable customers for your business.

Get Web Design Clients

So how about a few ideas on getting the all important new clients or as I like to call it being able to eat as a freelance web designer.

I think a lot of times we miss the simple ideas weather its because were trying to keep up with the latest technologies or chasing agter the all too familar clent that has failed to pay there invoice. Finding new clients can get a little frustrating. so here are a few Ideas

1. Freelace Web Design Sites -- Put it in google if you need some examples. Very usefull if your hungry. On the plus side there is lots of work and its all freelace. The down side your competting with designers and developers all over the world so bids are really way lower then what you would normally do the work for.

2. Classifide Ads -- Sites like craigslist and backpage are great places to make freash contacts. Keep your web design ads simple and honest. I see alot of fancy image ads and so forth. My own experace - I list ads as Memphis Web Designer Seeks Prject then ad a brief paragraph with my website information etc.. I get alot of work through my classifide listings. The first thing I do every morning while having that first cup of coffee is go and post a simple ad on these two sites.

3. Send your Resume to local Ad Agencies -- On the up side they will keep you busy if you do good work. On the down side you need to pay attetion to your billing especially on stuff like consulting and meeting with clients with them.

4. Print up some flyers and take an afternoon walk through your local downtown area. If you go early in the morning theres a good chance to catch the owner. Don't try to do a sales pitch just drop your flyer and leave. People want what they can't have if they try to get more info tell them your on a schedule but you can call them later to set up a time to talk.

5. Visit your local flea market or a craft show. Print up some simple business cards and give them out again don't try to sell your web design services. Just drop off the cards and keep moving. The people that call you up are the ones that will take the web development process serious.

6. Give everyone you know 5 of your business cards friends family etc... Don't be cheap either tell them that you will give them a cut off of anything you make.

7. Your local Yellow pages. Business owners still use the yellow pages for some reason. I have a friend that owns a large design shop and the only advertising he does is in the Yellow pages. He keeps 10 designers/programmers busy year round with his yellow page ad. and he doesn't have any sales people.

8.Contact your local contiuing education center and find out about holding classes. Become a local expert.

Any way these are just a few ideas on getting that next all important web design client.
