LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Pennsylvania Pink Zone recently presented a $40,000 check to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital as part of its effort to help with improving breast cancer awareness and treatments in the community. Taking part in the presentation were Kirk Thomas, chief administrative officer, Geisinger Western Region, Ken Startzel, director of imaging services, Matthew Kwiterovich, radiation oncology manager and Danielle Sampsell, corporate communications coordinator/Pink Zone liaison.
Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital is using the funds to purchase a blanket warmer for its CT/Simulation room to keep patients more comfortable and an air compressor pump that will aid in the creation and adjustment of immobilization equipment used for treatment. These funds will also be used for breast cancer educational and awareness programs as well as upgrading of the Breast Care Center at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital appreciates the contribution and stands together with Pink Zone to fight against cancer.
Through the support of generous sponsors and donors and inspiring fundraising efforts from many of its beneficiaries, The Pennsylvania Pink Zone has distributed more than $1,000,000 in nine years to support education, research and treatment in the field of breast cancer.
