Motorcycle club organizes park clean ups | WeAreCentralPA | WTAJ

Motorcycle club organizes park clean ups | WeAreCentralPA | WTAJ: "A motorcycle group in our region is making it their mission to clean up parks across Central Pennsylvania.

Every Tuesday, War Drivers President Todd Morgan hops on his motorcycle to clean a park.

The War Drivers Riding Club started the clean ups a year ago and members go along for the ride.

"It gives us a chance to have our kids go out somewhere safe to play," explained Morgan Todd, the President of the War Drivers Riding Club. "We don't have to worry about them running over needles and fisherman trash, bait hooks, stuff like that.

Tuesday evening they plan to clean up litter at Portstown Park in Huntingdon.

Lately they've been picking up more than just trash.

"Unfortunately in some of the small communities we're finding drug paraphernalia and pipes made out of beer cans and stuff like that near some of the schools," Todd said. "So you know those kinds of things we want to get out of the way of the kids."

The club members make sure to hand off the bags to police.

"We dispose of it accordingly, needles and bottles you know, the baggies we make sure they get thrown away," said War Driver member Kathy Hurley. "The key thing is not to leave them at the park we take them with us.. we can get in trouble for doing that, but if you're going to clean up you don't want to leave what you find there."

They welcome the community to get involved.

"Come on out," said Todd. "We have gloves, trash bags, and plenty of parks to clean up

The next clean up will be in Lewistown at Kish Park on June 31st. "
