Pennsylvania is home to an abundance of fall foliage, matched by a plethora of wide-ranging opinions on the best spots for viewing all that autumnal splendor.

PennLive asked a sampling of people on Facebook to suggest their favorite spots for leaf-peeping. Here are their answers.

Did your favorite spots make the list? If not, please share your suggestions in the comment section at the end of this post.

Michael Gadomski, an internationally known photographer who lives in the Poconos, summed up the quandary of many of our leaf-peepers, "Very difficult to say there is one best spot. The northern hardwood forest seems to have better autumn than any other forest type, especially in areas that have a great variety of tree species including conifers as green is a color also and contrasts beautifully with red."

However, when pressed to come up with just one spot, Gadomski pointed to Promised Land State Park, "especially around Promised Land Lake," where the fall color normally peaks around Columbus Day weekend, but could come earlier this year.

Former Pennsylvania Game Commissioner Ralph Martone chose a more general answer of a hunter's treestand, explaining, "How can you get a better spot to enjoy the fall colors than immersed in them. And, as an added bonus you can inhale the fragrance of fall and hear the sound of leaves gently touching the ground. Involving three senses are better than one."
